Student writers feel more comfortable with their writing when they find support, feedback, samples, and answers to their questions. We selected these resources with the graduate student writer in mind.

Writing Center Support
Make an Appointment

Don't wait in line! Schedule a time to work with a writing consultant at our Wescoe or Watson locations by using our online appointment system, calling (785) 864-2399 or sending us an Instant Message.

Online Consultations

Submit your writing online and receive a response by e-mail within 48 hours (except weekends). Available to all KU students and staff during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.

Graduate Writing Groups

Graduate Student Writing Groups provide graduate student writers with a community of writers and several complementary types of support, including; Write-In (Summer, Fall, Spring), Write-On[LY], and an Online Writers Group.



Additional Writing Support


Dissertation Distress/Thesis Torment Group

This group is for graduate students who are working on a dissertation or thesis. The focus is on problem solving, taking positive action, and staying motivated. It is open to students in all graduate program.

Graduate Support Program

The KU Graduate Support Program offers writing and presentation classes, a writing support group, and workshops for graduate students and faculty. Classes include GS 750 (Professional Writing); GS 700 (Thesis and Dissertation Writing); GS 706 Professional Presentations, and GS 710 (Thesis and Dissertation Writing Tutorial).
