APA Documentation Workshop (50 Minutes)

The APA workshop introduces students to the rationale behind APA citations and how to appropriately use them. Discussion topics include integrating sources and avoiding plagiarism, paraphrasing and direct quotations, in-text citations, and reference pages. To get the most out of this session, we encourage you to have an assignment that we can incorporate as a part of the workshop. Students can then practice APA citations on their course assignments while having our staff immediately accessible for specific citation questions. Once the workshop is scheduled, our staff will contact you to discuss details.


Chicago-Turabian Workshop (50 Minutes)

Revision Strategies Workshop (50-75 Minutes)

This workshop leads students in a discussion of editing vs. revision and the importance of both as a part of the writing process. Discussion topics include reasons for revision, methods for revision, and in-class activities that have students revise their own work. To get the most out of this session, having an assignment is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately. Also, depending on your class time availability, this presentation can cover a full 75 minute class.


Peer Response Workshop (50-75 Minutes)

This presentation prepares students for in-class peer workshops. Discussion topics include reflecting on previous experiences with feedback, what feedback is helpful/not helpful, and an in-class demonstration of effective peer response. To get the most out of this session, having an assignment is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately. Also, depending on your class time availability, this presentation can cover a full 75 minute class.


Thesis Development Workshop (50 minutes)

This presentation helps students formulate clear thesis statements and shows them how to develop their writing to support that thesis. To get the most out of this session, having an assignment is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately.


Literature Review Workshop (50 minutes)

This presentation shows students all the various steps necessary in order to create a successful literature review. To get the most out of this session, having an assignment is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately.


Poster Presentations (50 minutes)

This presentation shows students all the various steps necessary in order to create a successful poster presentation. To get the most out of this session, having an assignment is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately.


Handling Writer's Block (45 to 60 minutes)

This workshop explains to participants what writer's block is and how it manifests physically and mentally. Participants will learn about what writer's block looks like for them and how to break through what is keeping them from writing.


Paragraphs: The Building Blocks of Writing (60 to 75 minutes)

Participants learn about how to structure a paragraph and will workshop drafts of their writing-in-progress. To get the most out of this session, having a draft is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately.


Finding Time to Write vs. Making Time to Write (45 to 60 minutes)

Academics have to balance a lot of things, and oftentimes struggle with finding time to write even when something is due. Participants learn about the differences between finding time to write and making time to write, and how making time to write is a smarter strategy in the end.


How to Take an Essay Exam (45 to 60 Minutes)

This presentation introduces participants to writing strategies for taking timed essay exams. To get the most out of this session, having sample questions is essential so that our staff can conduct the workshop fully and appropriately.
